Great tip, the idea of catching the ball (without the paddle) is a good lead up progression. Most of the time the player in orange was waiting for the BH volley with the paddle tip facing 9 o’clock. I have seen this is a very common habit and tough to break,, to being ready at 11 o’clock like suggested

sitting here watching the san clemente mixed final, and it seems that everyone tries to "force" a win from ALW & BJ--with pace mostly. i'm thinking they should get way more creative and lob their a$$es from the kitchen way more frequently and immediately. stop waiting for the right moment. yes, i am a PB lazy boy recliner expert. hahahahaha.

someone needs to "sweep the leg" of ALW and BJ. now that would make the game exciting.

I apologize in advance for what i'm about to write: to all the pro players, both female and male, GET BETTER! I don't think I'm speaking for just myself when I say...we're tired as F seeing the same two players win everything. That would be Ben Johns and ALW. That 17 year old belongs in a corner. Can someone out there please develop the skills and the mental game to teach her what it feels like to lose?! God damn it. And when it comes to BJ, I'm sure he's a nice guy and all but it really does seem like all the other pro players, with the exception of Patriquin and Johnson, are just f'ing intimidated and nervous. And it shows. Get better, please. For the sake of your fans. And one more thing...nah, I'm not gonna say it...okay i will: there's a certain female player that brings a certain B-attitude to the court, and it doesn't seem to be very helpful. In fact, her mood, seems to make her and her partner lose a lot.

I love watching all the matches. Don’t have a preference on gender doubles- for me it has more to do with who is playing than whether it’s men’s, women’s or mixed. I do prefer watching doubles over singles though. Enjoy your podcasts James.

There is no way to make music over speakers anything but an imposition to others. You are imposing your taste(s). You are making it hard to hear - the ball hit the paddle, the score, communications from your partner. The only way music is acceptable is in your ear buds.

I think restricting men’s paddles would be a great idea. This would also open up opportunities for women to play on the left more. Obviously if the future of PB is to have lefty righty dream teams then you will have more women playing left if they partner with a lefty male. Great idea and love the pod- keep them coming! My pickleball IQ had gotten so much better from listening to your pods!

Been hearing for awhile now that righty/lefty combos will rule the game. I never see any do well.

At 0:50, referring to backspin and/or wind causing the ball to bounce back over the net..."The receiving player may cross the plane of the net, over, under or around the net post" Under the net post??? Shouldn't it say "The receiving player or anything they are wearing or touching (Paddle) may cross the plane of the net IF they make contact with the ball and do so without touching the net or the post" ???

Would it be better for men’s doubles to have a slower ball or less poppy paddles?

I knew about loosing the grip but the paddle angle is the key to the return. Thank you Catherine for your video. It was excellent in seeing the blocking technique. I will work on the angle in my block going forward. Growing my game keeps it fun to play each week.

Right/lefty duos are much tougher to lob as well.

As a painter, country clubs, towns and even homeowners wanted to stuff as many courts into the space they had as possible thinking they needed to service as many players as possible. What you're showing in this video was common but is changing as people learn more about how to play the game. It is definitely moving towards fewer courts per space in order to have a little more room. For instance, they used to try and stuff four courts into one court, people only do two now.

Not a bad idea. I like your pooint of view. In my opinion, women's doubles is exiting bc the women show more emotion than the men in general. The human aspect makes it fun and interesting to watch.

Wish coaches and people would stop promoting calorie counting!

James great idea! I would think the reduction in power would need to be more than 10% less than the women. The only problem is when the women in a mixed doubles match start potentially destroying the men they are going to start talking way more S#!t. haha!

Playing with delisted paddles is cheating whether it's a local tournament or rec play. It's no different than playing with an EVA foam paddle like the Vice. If you need a cheater paddle you should work more on your game. Unsolicited advice to random partners is never a good idea. If they ask, then fine but then it's solicited. 😉 USAPA has fumbled on the paddle testing for a long time. Unfortunately it's what led to the mess were in. They should have introduced COR testing last year as originally planned. I'm not really into the drummed up drama in the Pro tours. The hot mics seem like a cheesy way to try and grow viewership. Let the sport speak for itself. However to do that you need video that isn't blurry, pausing constantly, skipping points, audio dropping out, and no commentary. That's the production quality of CC and GS. It's even more abysmal or non-existent on the side courts. It's a shame the APP didn't sign a cohort of players during the tour wars.
